Our Story

Purple Door Management began as a little dream of a tiny home with a purple front door.

The Purple Door, Tiny House was my dream made manifest. In 2015, as a recently divorced mother of a 5-year-old, I designed it from top to bottom for two people.

I hired the builder. I chose the siding, the shingles, and the columns. I chose the flooring, the insulation, and the water heater. I chose the trim, the doors, and the paint colors. I chose the countertops, the sinks, and the toilets. I chose the cabinets, the lights, and the faucets. I chose the tile, the mirrors, and the windows.

I quite literally made every decision all by myself, and it was so empowering!

I decided to list our home on Airbnb part-time to make a little extra money. As it turns out, this adorable little house made more than a little extra! I suppose my 11 years in tourism, hospitality, and event planning helped. In a short while, I could pay the mortgage using Airbnb income. What a blessing!

Fast forward to 2017, and I’m newly married and have an infant. Tiny House was too small for our family of four, so it went from a part-time to a full-time Airbnb, and it was the best decision ever. We’ve hosted hundreds of guests from all over the United States and international travelers. Many of our guests visit Lexington, KY, to enjoy our bourbon and horses, while others visit family or work in the area. No matter the reason, we look forward to welcoming you!

In 2019, I began managing the James C. Butler House for a Nashville-based owner. It has been used to film commercials for the University of Kentucky and a photoshoot for TOPS in Lex Magazine. Open a new bottle of Kentucky bourbon, turn on the market lights playfully strung in the tree, and socialize to the sounds of the water fountain. This historic Bluegrass Trust home was built in 1848 and features a unique stained-glass front door.

In 2021, we added the Lovely Shotgun Cottage, the Little Music House, and the Adorable Loft House to the family, allowing their owner to travel nationally and internationally for months at a time. This trio of colorful houses is conveniently located on West Main Street. Walk to Rupp Arena, the Lexington Convention Center, restaurants, pubs, and more!

In late 2022, we added the Cheerful Downtown House and the Maryland Boutique House so their owner could focus more on her full-time job that also involves travel. Both downtown Lexington houses are beautifully furnished and able to accommodate groups of seven or nine people respectively.
